The Importance of Reading (5): Let's Read and Study Seriously!

University of Oslo Library When I was studying abroad (in the West), I saw the incredible view that my western peers were always very serious in their studies. They studied really hard. What I mean by “studying really hard” here is that there was no compromise at all to be lazy. I don’t know, perhaps, what they have in mind are that they have to reach the “NUMBER ONE” by studying seriously. All of them! Their persistence in achieving their study's goals was real and sophisticated! I used to mention them as “professional students”. Learning to love with the unselfishness is not easy because this is contrary to our nature. That is why we are given the time to learn throughout our lives in a family. In response to the awareness of the important thing about how to bring up children in the more multifaceted environments and some challenging situations nowadays, here is a brief note about the 5 stages of chi...

Reading itself is a combination of our prior knowledge and what we are reading from the text. Thus, in my opinion, writing is a process of combining our prior knowledge and/or experiences with writing techniques to be able to produce the good outcomes. It   may be seen that the prior knowledge we have is a crucial aspect in the process of writing and reading. Whilst reading we are acquired to have a prior knowledge as what we have already had in mind, similarly with writing. Here I would like to recall some of my childhood experiences as to reading habits that have affected me much in building my knowledge, especially when I use it for a writing process. I can tell that I don’t know exactly when it came from initially. But subsequently, I had my reading habits quite intensely since my parents brought us (my siblings and I) some story books every time they c...
